Spring-loaded mouse traps are still used after over a century since their conception for a reason—they work and without the lethal concerns of poisons that pets and small children could ingest. This updated model of these classic rodent traps feature notable grips to prevent escape and offer an even faster, and therefore more humane, kill.
These snap traps can be used both indoors and outside as long as you take necessary precautions. Be aware of various fauna that could possibly get caught in these traps, especially animals like raccoons that might get a paw stuck but would not be killed.
We recommended setting these in areas out of reach of pets, kids, and other wildlife. Sheds, attics, garages, and outdoor spaces that are too small for other animals to reach, such as under a deck, are excellent spots to set these traps. We like these bait stations for keeping most other animals and wildlife safe when used outdoors.
Our Review
Tomcat Mouse Killer II Disposable Mouse Bait Station comes in as our favorite Tomcat poison option for users who have kids around. The pre-loaded bait station has a translucent lid to monitor poison chunks levels. When all of the bait is gone, just throw away the container or recycle if possible.
We like that you don’t need to come in contact with the bait directly, and even more importantly, don’t have to worry about kids picking up the pieces of poison. These pre-set poison mouse traps are ideal for a home with pets, too. Bromethalin is the active ingredient in the bait chunks, which is a neurotoxin that works well against anticoagulant-resistant rodents. Do take note, there is no known antidote for this poison.
Even though the containers are designed to prevent pets and children from tampering with them, this is an extremely lethal poison. These bait stations are not recommended for homes with pets that often chew on nearly anything, or families with, especially curious or unsupervised kids.
