The Victor Brand Trap stands out to us in the running for the best electronic mouse trap. With over 100 years of rodent control innovation, Victor continues to bring more humane and effective rodent control methods to the market.

Electronic traps are among our top picks for mouse and rat control because you don’t have to deal with poisonous chemicals or the mess and gore of spring-loaded snap traps. Electronic mouse traps are quick-kill, eliminating the rodent in seconds for a kinder elimination than poisons that can take up to a few days. Which is why we decided to do a more in-depth Victor electronic mouse trap review.

OUR VERDICT

The Victor M241 Electronic Trap is our favorite no-touch mouse trap thanks to its reasonable cost, ease of baiting, and straightforward disposal of rodents. Indicator lights relieve you from even needing to see much of the mice in the trap.

Our Review

We like the Victor M241 No Touch Electronic Trap for its positive user ratings. The mostly enclosed chamber of this electric trap means you don’t have to see the rodent, and even better, don’t have to touch it when disposing of a rodent after a kill.

This electronic mouse trap features convenient holes at the far end for placing bait deep in the compartment with ease. The inner chamber is removable, making cleanup of lures such as nut butter much less effort after you dispose of any mice or rats.

OUR VERDICT

The Victor M250S No Touch, No See Electronic Mousetrap is a sleek, no-escape electric mouse trap with up to 100 kills per set of batteries. We like the enclosed design of this trap for less visibility and no touching of dead rodents.

Our Review

Victor’s M250S No Touch, No See Mousetrap is designed with a bit more safety in mind regarding children and pets (although still use caution and common sense). The tunnel of this device has a built-in safety switch that makes it more difficult for kids and pets (or impossible for some) to reach in and get zapped. We like this electronic mouse trap particularly for those with children or pets.

The enclosed no-escape design makes for even more privacy between you and potential kills. For those who are more squeamish about dead animals but have a mouse problem, this is a preferable feature. Disposal is straightforward and requires no touching of catches killed whatsoever.

With Victor’s bait hole design, you can place lure in the trap without needing to shove your hand in the chamber. With up to 100 kills per set of batteries, this is our favorite general no touch, no see electronic mouse trap.

Victor’s M260 Two-Pack of Traps is an excellent pick for larger infestations of mice. The rotating chamber drops rodents into a collection area for a quick, automatic reset.

Our Review

This two-pack of Victor’s M260 Electric Traps is fantastic for more significant mice problems. With this two pack, you can catch up to 20 mice before needing to empty. The safety switch deactivates when the trap is opened, which makes this trap an exceptional choice for homes with small children.

For those who don’t mind seeing the eliminated mice, this can be a gratifying way to keep track of how many rodents you’re eradicating. We expressly like that these traps are small enough that you don’t have to worry about larger animals such as squirrels getting into them, making these mousetraps wildlife friendly.

Victor Rodent Products and Wildlife

Since the 1800s, Victor continued to develop a number of rodent and pest control products. While snap traps remain part of their line, Victor developed a variety of rodent repellents for more wildlife-friendly means of deterrent, along with live traps and instant-kill electronic traps.

Killing a mouse or rat will inevitably leave a small mess from time to time.

How Do You Clean A Victor Electronic Mouse Trap?

While electric rodent traps are far cleaner than snap traps or dealing with poisoned rodents, killing a mouse or rat will inevitably leave a small mess from time to time.

After emptying your trap, you will want to clean it not only for health and sanitation purposes but also to keep other mice from being deterred by signs of their imminent doom. With food such as peanut butter, cleaning will prevent bacteria growth and keep the bait fresh and appealing to rodents.

Sanitary Preparation

First, put on disposable gloves and a mask, as both rats and mice can carry several diseases. Turn off the rodent device and remove the battery or batteries. Then empty the mouse or rat into a plastic bag and tie it up and dispose of the smaller sack into a lined garbage where other animals cannot get to it.

Then get yourself a damp, lint-free cloth and moisten it with hot water. Wipe down the interior plate and throw the paper towel or napkin away. Repeat this with fresh materials if needed.

If you need to wipe the plate multiple times, use more than one wipe to avoid spreading any debris around.

Cloth Disposal Or Washing

We highly advise that you do not keep whatever you wipe the trap with. If you cannot spare throwing away the cloth, soak fabrics in a bleach and water mixture before cycling in a washing machine. Then wash any of these washcloths in hot water with bleach in a cycle with no other fabrics or clothes. If you need to wipe the plate multiple times, use more than one wipe to avoid spreading any debris around.

Drying And Resetting

Set the trap out to dry in a covered spot outdoors or near a well-ventilated space inside. After the trap is dry, replace the batteries you set aside before cleaning. Re-bait the electronic trap and place it back in a rodent-prone location and turn it on again.

Bait For Mice Or Rats

Mice and rats are both technically omnivores. They are not avid hunters, so finding protein is often appealing to their diet. Baiting with proteins such as nut butter, cheeses, or commercially prepared pellets or chunks will be tempting to most mice and rats.

Placing your traps along walls, in cabinets, near garbage cans in a garage, or inside a shed or attic are ideal locations. These rodents prefer to run along fence and wall lines. Rats and mice feel more secure in these areas. Set your traps near these areas, especially if you previously spotted droppings or activity in a given area.

They’re generally more humane than poison and snap traps, yet they can eliminate mice and rats more efficiently and entirely than live traps.

Summary

If you dislike like the idea or concerns of using poisons—or they just aren’t an option with curious pets or toddlers around—but you can’t stand the sight of snap traps, electronic rodent traps are a fantastic option. They’re generally more humane than poison and snap traps, yet they can eliminate mice and rats more efficiently and entirely than live traps.

For homes with small kids or curious pets, be sure to look for a trap with a safety switch feature. A few of the options above are better than other for safety with pets. Overall, when used with caution and common sense, these electric rodent traps can all be a success in ridding your mouse problem.
